1 Bligh Street, Sydney

1 Bligh Stret Sydney is a multi-award winning sustainable office tower that achieved 6 Star Green Star Office Design v2 and Office As-Built v2 Certified Ratings from the Green Building Council of Australia. 
The wall used around 11,300 plants made up of 27 species ranging from ferns, lillies and ground covers. The vertical garden design is constrained by the CBD high rise buildings creating a very challenging growing environment with high wind and very low light guiding the plant selection. In addition, the architects (Ingerhoven and Architectus) described a monotone design with little or no leaf colour variation or flowers to achieve the desired visual effect.  The host wall undulates, creating a range of microclimates along the 42 metre length.  Nestled beside the wall is an outdoor coffee bar/cafe, occupying the walk through space separating the green wall from the 27 level office tower.
