The vertical garden cleverly screens 5 levels of carpark and creates a "wow factor" at the front of the multi-story apartment building. The garden is installed from 4 metres high up to 19 metres on a southeast facing host wall that experiences swirling winds. The building faces south east with little direct sun in the morning but plent of swirling winds. This means the plants selected need to be toug and durable. Due to the access difficulties, Fytogreen sought to achieve minimal direct contact with the plants for maintenance. Every 1.5-2m, there is a horizontal air gap of 350mm to allow ventilation of the carpark, and Fytogreen installed catch tray dispersal through the wall. 6,180 tube stock plants with 44 species were used, made up of ground covers, ferns, lillies, grasses and strappy foliage species. A dramatic seasonal change happens because many flowering species were integrated into the vertical garden - reflecting the artistic/creative influence in the building's architecture.
